-- Nation of Language has a sold-out performance at The Crocodile on Thursday, October 14th, 2021. --- Singer and songwriter Ian Devaney says of “A Word & A Wave” in a statement: I was thinking a lot about simple social gestures and how randomly important they can be in key moments. How empowering it can feel when someone remembers your name; how slighted you can feel when someone you only kind-of know passes by without acknowledgment. "Dear DJ John Richards, Lots of appreciation for you and your work, John. Last Thursday my wife and I were dropping our daughter off for her first year at college. Just miles from the school your show started right as we were getting pretty dang nervous and emotional about saying good bye to her. That day the theme for your show was mental health and the first song you played was Peter Gabriel’s “Don’t Give Up.” It was this touching moment of distinctly remembering thirty years ago when I was a first year student in college and listening to that exact song as I was going through a really rough patch. It was super helpful to hear that song again. Thank you! We made it through the day. I love your running podcast and am psyched that you will be continuing it. I especially love it when you play songs whose tempo corresponds to a running cadence around 170 or so. I’m sure you can relate as a runner- it’s a delightful thing to run in time to a song. Lately, you’ve been playing Nation of Language’s “Across That Fine Line.” Such a perfect song for this! Please keep including songs that work with running cadence. Thanks for all you do! Good luck on your marathon! - Peter" === They have a sold-out performance at The Crocodile on Thursday, October 14th, 2021. --- Here's the official video for this soaring single: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnszv9BqhP8
