Guitarist Jez Williams said on their record label's website that this song was influenced lyrically by the fact that "A lot of cities in the North West (of England) have gone through radical changes - Manchester over the last eight years, Liverpool in the last couple." In December, Manchester trio Doves announced that they'd be reuniting to play Roger Daltrey’s annual Teenage Cancer Trust benefit shows in March 2019. They last played together in 2010.
