New Order released the stand alone single "Temptation" and it's "8:45 of pure goodness" on this day in 1982. Basically, all good music is released on May 10th. Thanks for celebrating 50 years of KEXP with us today!

Bernard Sumner told Mojo in a 2015 interview that this is probably his favorite New Order song. He said: "It's got a spirituality to it. It's really uplifting without actually getting a specific message across. It was interesting to see that you could do that while, at the time, being fairly abstract. I struggled with the literalness of my lyrics in the early days. I didn't want to expose my inner feelings to the general public ." -- See the official music video for "Temptation": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxDv_RTdLQo

Happy 64th to New Order drummer Stephen Morris!!! == Some muffled voices, and a scream 52 seconds into the original 12" can be heard. The scream was by Bernard Sumner who says bandmates threw a snowball down his shirt. Sumner said in an interview that this is probably his favorite New Order song. He said: "It's got a spirituality to it. It's really uplifting without actually getting a specific message across. It was interesting to see that you could do that while, at the time, being fairly abstract. I struggled with the literalness of my lyrics in the early days.
