Heralded as early jazz-rap adapters, the Jungle Brothers never quite reached the same levels of commercial success as industry peers De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, or Digable Planets. Their debut album 'Done by the Forces of Nature' was released in 1989. "Doin' Our Own Dang" was a Native Tongues collab (sampling Bob Marley's "Jamming"): Jungle Brothers with De La Soul, Q-Tip, Monie Love and featuring Queen Latifah! Before her 2002 break-out album 'Come Away with Me', Norah Jones was a member of Wax Poetic, a New York-based trip hop band founded in 1997 by Turkish musician Ilhan Erşahin, playing tenor saxophone and keys. The group originated at the now defunct club Save the Robots, and consisted of a group of musicians jamming together. Jones appeared on two tracks of the band's 2003 album 'Nublu Sessions'. |

Norah Jones on 'Black Radio 2' with Robert Glasper! Last month the two chatted on Jones's podcast! Check it out! A fellow piano player, songwriter and Texan, this episode with Robert Glasper was meant to be! Norah and Robert reminisce about their days at Performing Arts High Schools and band camp, and recollect all the alums that have inspired them from the start. They perform a stunning Radiohead cover, a recorded collaboration they’ve never played live together before, and a meditative composition by Duke Ellington. Get caught up in the walk down memory lane, and find out the advice they both got from their friend, Q-Tip! https://youtu.be/InvUvTHKGPw |

'Voice Notes' is the debut album from East London-based singer Yazmin Lacey! Lacey's thought behind the title: "For me, a voice note represents an immediate reaction to something. [It’s] unfiltered and raw in the way that you can hear it." https://yazminlacey.bandcamp.com/album/voice-notes-2 https://www.yazminlacey.com/ |

NEW MUSIC!! The first single from Parks' upcoming album. Parks describes the song: "'Weightless' surrounds the painful experience of caring deeply about someone who only gives you tiny breadcrumbs of affection. It's about suddenly realizing that a person has dulled your edges and embarking on the slow journey back to being a brighter version of yourself." Larry Mizell, Jr hosted Arlo Parks - Live in the KEXP Studio in March 2022: https://youtu.be/WD5MFKh0vBM |

Album-versary! Sign “☮︎” the Times released on this day in 1987! Sign “☮” the Times was Prince's ninth album - Prince’s first record since disbanding the Revolution, and he didn’t look outside himself for much help on this one. Only three songs (including "Starfish and Coffee"--with Susannah Melvoin) had co-writers, and for nine of the songs, there is no outside collaborator listed as performing any instruments. |
