This song is from "Spirituals," Santigold's first release in six years.: https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/santigold-spirituals/ "I called this song "High Priestess" because this song was about my greatness," Santigold said in a press release. "I needed to be a witness to myself at that point, calling out my own power, my own fortitude, my own wisdom, because I felt like I had become disconnected from it, having been stripped out of the rhythm of life that I had cultivated for myself, and thrust into this smaller, one dimensional version of myself, grounded and isolated for too long. The lyrics are fun though, rap lyrics in general, boastful, cocky, but that’s what I was talking about underneath it all.” "High Priestess" was KEXP's song of the day back in August: https://bit.ly/3Ng1IdM Santi White was an A&R rep, songwriter, and producer before becoming the artist Santigold. https://www.allmusic.com/artist/santigold-mn0001502854/biography |

A music video to accompany "Fitzpleasure" was released on YouTube on November 5, 2012, with a total length of three minutes and forty-one seconds. French director Emile Sornin created the music video to be all black and white clips. The clips show a rundown, large city filled with gangsters, an old man with a tongue for an eye, prosthetic limbs, an old man with two faces (one in front and the other in the back of the head), contorting gang-like dancers, and mobsters. https://bit.ly/3nCIDGf After seeing the band perform live, Jim James, lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter for My Morning Jacket said, "... It kind of gave me this good, foreboding feeling. It was like seeing one of the great bands very young." This encouraged him to remix the song, and his 'Apple C' remix was included on the deluxe edition of An Awesome Wave. https://bit.ly/3bq3Ld2 |

Evie interviewed Flyying Colours for Live on KEXP From Home; the interview and live session will be out on the KEXP YouTube site during the first week of September! Subscribe to the channel to get notifications when it posts! https://www.youtube.com/user/kexpradio This Melbourne band counts Slowdive and Ride as influences on their music. The band says about the shoegaze tag, "That is essentially what we are, and many other things as well. I will never shy away from it because as a song writer that’s what I identify with. Or at least that’s what happens I think." Flyying Colours are touring Europe in the spring, no US dates announced yet... http://flyingcolorsmusic.com/ |

Poliça is an American pop band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. In the first half of 2013, they began working on new music, much of which was done by e-mail as the band continued to tour and producer Ryan Olson was spending time in Brazil. Much of the actual recording was completed at the April Base studios of Bon Iver in Wisconsin. Their second album, Shulamith was released in October of 2013. |

When The Who perform this live, the processed organ is played from a recording, since it would be nearly impossible to replicate on an instrument. The guitar doesn't come in until 1:40, giving Pete Townshend some time to reflect on his work. "There is this moment of standing there just listening to this music and looking out to the audience and just thinking, 'I f--king did that. I wrote that," he said. "I just hope that on my deathbed I don't embarrass myself by asking someone, 'Can you pass me my guitar? And will you run the backing tape of 'Baba O'Riley'? I just want to do it one more time." |

Goooood morning friends! Young Fathers share third single from new album, ‘Tell Somebody’. The ambient track's video was directed by Nigerian-Austrian filmmaker David Uzochukwu. Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cH9kmxJCU8 Upon announcing the new album last month, the Scottish trio shared a statement regarding its title. “‘Heavy Heavy’ could be a mood, or it could describe the smoothed granite of bass that supports the sound,” they said. “Or, it could be a nod to the natural progression of boys to grown men and the inevitable toll of living, a joyous burden, relationships, family, the natural momentum of a group that has been around long enough to witness massive changes." https://bit.ly/3BOu62h |
