Palacios is one of Chile’s most important and beloved folk music figures, and the album celebrates her life as the centenary anniversary of her birth on September 15. Gepe met Margot Loyola in 2013, in one of the singer's performances at the Olmué Festival. He says that on that day Osvaldo Cádiz, Margot's husband, invited him to their house. That is where he shared with the folklorist, the bond that served as inspiration for this work. Released his new album Folclor Imaginary early Friday, honoring the late Chilean singer-songwriter Margot Loyola Palacios on the eve of what would have been her 100th birthday. For the album, Gepe recruited his fellow countrymen - Miguel Molina, Claudio Constanzo and Claudia Mena - to cook up a genre-spanning compilation of original songs and covers sourced from Palacios' vibrant catalog. |
