Phoebe Bridgers reveals, "This song is about impostor syndrome. About being in Japan for the first time, somewhere I’ve always wanted to go, and playing my music to people who want to hear it, feeling like I’m living someone else's life. I dissociate when bad things happen to me, but also when good things happen. It can feel like I’m performing what I think I’m supposed to be like." https://bit.ly/3vstSIt Phoebe Bridgers performed a Live on KEXP at Home session in August 2020. https://youtu.be/WekaPReaJBU https://phoebebridgers.bandcamp.com/music

Nigerian-born London singer Obongjayar has released his long-awaited debut album 'Some Nights I Dream Of Doors.' Obongjayar co-wrote album opener “Try” with producer Barney Lister. The song has a simple, direct melody and a beautifully bittersweet vocal from Obongjayar. It’s about staring down a hostile, uncertain future and doing your best to thrive anyway. Lister surrounds Obongjayar’s voice with horns and drums, but all of that sometimes drops away to let that voice dominate. Director Spencer Young‘s striking video is full of theatrical lighting and modern-dance poses, and it’s got an adorable little kid playing Obongjayar’s inner child. https://bit.ly/3AX6eb9 https://youtu.be/Rm4tFkMnjyY http://obongjayar.com/

'Mordechai' is the third studio album by Houston, Texas trio Khruangbin. Drummer Donald “DJ” Johnson and bassist Laura Lee discuss how they developed such diverse influences, singing in 16 different languages, and their support for the Black Lives Matter movement. “We see music as a vehicle to highlight those similarities between people so people can stand together, listen to the same music together and experience it,” Laura Lee says. After completing a UK headline tour which included a triumphant four-night run at London's Olympia in front of a combined audience of 40,000 people, Foals are set to take the sun-kissed sounds of their 'Life Is Yours' album to an array of major festivals this summer. As the June 17th release of 'Life Is Yours' approaches, Foals today unveil their new single '2001'. Yannis says, "'2001' feels like a postcard from the past. We moved to Brighton around that time, we were a young band, and there was the feeling of the first taste of independence. The moment you get those freedoms, you're surrounded by temptation. The references to beachside candy and Brighton rock are symbols for drugs and hedonism. This was written in the depths of the pandemic winter, and there's an escapist desire to break out from the feeling of being cooped up, both in terms of the pandemic and adolescence." https://bit.ly/3sKUK7s Official Music Video: https://youtu.be/ydBQz3SecaE Foals - "2001" - Live from Utilita Arena Birmingham, April 2022: https://youtu.be/b_mTHZKzDaI https://lifeisyours.foals.co.uk/

Storm Around The World
by !!! & Maria Uzor
(9 plays) | (0 fans)

“Storm Around the World” is a song we’ve had since the last album that didn’t really come into focus until Maria Uzor from Sink Ya Teeth added her part and we turned it into a duet. Originally an acid workout about parents who leave on tour it became much more than that with her vocal, which is equal parts sing-song and spoken word and who’s lyrics helped add both a familiarity and a mystery to the song. On this record we were looking for basic minimal arrangements– sub-bass, drums and vocals mostly– and that approach is what finally let us support the vocal parts in a way that worked. The final piece was the beat that our producer Patrick Ford made that felt somewhere between programmed, sampled and played, a blurriness that is another feature of this album, Let it be Blue, which was mostly built on computers but doesn’t always sound or feel that way." https://chkchkchk.net/

This song is about how people use technology and material goods to isolate themselves from human contact. Numan has stated that he has Asperger syndrome, which is a mild form of autism, but until he was diagnosed, he had a lot of trouble relating to other people. Numan told Mojo magazine March 2008 about the original inspiration for this song: "A couple of blokes started peering in the window and for whatever reason took a dislike to me, so I had to take evasive action. I swerved up the pavement, scattering pedestrians everywhere. After that, I began to see the car as the tank of modern society." https://bit.ly/3iYtrSW

by Soccer Mommy

Color Theory is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Soccer Mommy. In 2020, Sophie Allison released her sophomore record under the moniker Soccer Mommy. Titled color theory, the record is a triumph that sees Allison ambitiously evoke a wide palette of melancholic emotions. Allison has said the album depicts three central themes that are represented by three colors: blue, representing sadness and depression; yellow, symbolizing physical and emotional illness; and gray, representing darkness, emptiness, and loss. It’s a more sorrowful tone than the sunny power-pop of her debut but no less catchy, enjoyable, or critically acclaimed. Music Video Premiere: https://bit.ly/3DhZQMt
