“’Ultra Truth’ finds me in a different place to where I’ve been before,” said Daniel Avery of the release. “My previous albums have all focused on the idea of music being an escape or a distraction from the world but that’s not the case this time. For me this album is about looking directly into the darkness, not running away from it. There’s a way through these times but it involves keeping the important people in your life close to you and navigating the noise together." Ultra Truth will be released on November 4th. https://www.nme.com/news/music/daniel-avery-shares-intense-new-track-chaos-energy-with-haai-and-kelly-lee-owens-3230061

beabadoobee's new album, "Beatopia" is out July 15th. https://www.beabadoobee.com/ Here’s what beabadoobee had to say about "Talk": "I wrote “Talk” just after my first album. I was obsessed with Tuesday because I thought it was the best night to go out, not too much chaos but just enough to have a good time. Generally, it’s about doing things that aren’t necessarily healthy or great for you, but you can’t help indulging. It’s like that unavoidable feeling that you get. You can’t get rid of it, and you know it’s bad, but you love it really, and it’s whatever, so you do it anyways." 'Talk' about the 7th best day of the week!

The subject of Amos’ “God” is her narrator’s perspective on men and their role in society, yes, but it’s also a gripping portrayal of just how powerful religious imagery can be when employed in the context of gender issues.: https://www.stereogum.com/1686765/the-10-best-tori-amos-songs/lists/ Amos also samples "Last Bongo in Belgium" in this track.

New music from Australian artist Stella Donnelly! Flood is due out on August 26th. "While each song in Flood is a singular artwork unto itself, the collective shares all of Stella Donnelly in abundance: her inner child, her nurturing self, her nightmare self; all of herself has gone into the making of this record, and although it would take an ocean to fathom everything she feels, it’s well worth diving in." https://stelladonnelly.bandcamp.com/ Stella will be playing in Seattle at Neumos on September 17th.

How Soon Is Now?
by The Smiths

The song sampled in that last track... Johnny Marr described Meat Is Murder as The Smiths' "most enduring record", which is about their frontman Morrissey's crippling shyness. It has since become an anthem for the alienated and socially isolated, and both Morrissey and Johnny Marr play the track as part of their solo repertoires.

Hatchie spoke to KEXP's Sound and Vision podcast about the themes of shame and self-acceptance on her latest record, Giving The World Away, and how she worked a day job during COVID to save up to tour so she could pay her band and crew. “I really wanted this record to be as big as possible on tour so I wanted to add extra members to the lineup and I wanted to have our own soundperson and have a lighting show so that meant that I had to make some personal sacrifices and had to go back to work part-time so I could balance that and budget for it so that I can save up and not have to pay myself on tour, whereas I have to pay a band,” Hatchie says.
