Elena Voynarovskaya hails from Odesa, Ukraine. This album translates to "Pilgrims," and the track "The Pilgrim's Song." Explore more at her Bandcamp: https://bit.ly/37tbusb From Bandcamp, Google Translate offers about this album, "Amazing semantic and musical eclecticism, a wide range of genres and moods made the record truly special. Pilgrims is a reflection album, a travel album. On the one hand, he is very introverted, leading to the inner depths, and on the other hand, facing the external world - suffering and generating suffering. Traveling in time and space, the author asks himself questions - the most significant and secret."

Celebrating 50 years of KEXP/KCMU, with a special focus on 1992 this week! Arcwelder formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1988. The band, a perennial local favorite, consists of brothers Rob and Bill Graber and Scott Macdonald, all of whom share in the tasks of songwriting and singing. Under their original name Tilt-A-Whirl, the band released their first album, This, in 1990 on the small Minneapolis label Big Money, Inc. As the record was being released, the band was sued for trademark infringement by Sellner Manufacturing, the manufacturer of the Tilt-A-Whirl amusement ride. Rather than go to court, the band changed their name to Arcwelder, the title of an instrumental on the record. The initial release of This had a disclaimer sticker noting the lack of affiliation between the ride's manufacturer and the band. https://bit.ly/3Ij1Y7F

The Funhouse
by Francis of Delirium

Luxembourg's Francis of Delirium will perform at Neumos on Monday, March 21: https://bit.ly/3pFY16F Speaking about the single, Jana Bahrich says, "The Funhouse is largely about how we are adapting to the chaos that is present in our everyday lives. The way it can feel that the world is crashing down around us and in order to protect ourselves, we become numb to the sheer terror of it all. Sort of like walking through a funhouse and attempting to remain unphased by the mayhem that surrounds you." https://bit.ly/3JBZF1j

No Blade Of Grass

The follow-up to the band's acclaimed debut album, Endless Scroll (2018), and 2019's Shiny New Model EP, Broken Equipment was inspired by a book club. In the early months of 2020, the Brooklyn art-punk incendiaries gathered together with close friends to study the works of a wide range of philosophers. The album’s 12 songs are set in present day New York City, packing in references to contemporary issues of algorithmic targeting, media gentrification, and the band itself. https://bit.ly/34RFBbT

This song features Amy Taylor of Australian group Amyl and the Sniffers. About this track, vocalist Jason Williamson says, "Imagine you’ve got limited options, unsure how you’re getting by that week, looking out the window of the damp flat you don’t want to live in, and seeing a bunch of posers having a photo shoot because 'cool architecture , Bro, we feel your pain.'" https://bit.ly/2RMDAqJ Sleaford Mods will be at Neumos on Friday, May 6th, 2022.

In "More Pressure," Kae Tempest is joined by BROCKHAMPTON's Kevin Abstract, and the album is co-produced by Dan Carey and Rick Rubin. "'The Line Is A Curve' is about letting go. Of shame, anxiety, isolation, and falling instead into surrender," Kae says. "I want people to feel welcomed into this record, by me, the person who made it, and I have let go of some of my airier concerns. I feel less shame in my body because I am not hiding from the world anymore. I wanted to show my face, and I dreamed of it being Wolfgang Tillmans who took the portrait." https://bit.ly/3AL3xt1

When Doves Cry
by Prince & the Revolution

Besides writing and composing the track, Prince played all the instruments on the song. There is no bass on this song. Prince took out the bass track at the last minute to get a different sound, though he hated to see it go: https://bit.ly/34RuHmD Basic tracking took place on 1 March 1984 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California (some days after Traffic Jam and two days after Love And Sex), as the final track recorded for Purple Rain. Of note is that both the track’s ascending synth-string ending and the extended part as it was played on the Purple Rain Tour are both quite reminiscent of Traffic Jam, recorded only days earlier. https://bit.ly/3u7sqw7

My Love
by Florence + the Machine
(10 plays) | (0 fans)

Following on 2018's High As Hope, Florence Welch describes her fifth album as "a fairytale in 14 songs." The decade-defining Brit began working on the album in March 2020 with super-producer Jack Antonoff in New York. But the pandemic forced her to retreat to London, where she continued tinkering with the music, including "My Love." Florence ended up co-writing/co-producing the track with Dave Bayley, frontman of Hottest 100 toppers Glass Animals (who are currently #1 in the US with 'Heat Waves'). Together, they transformed 'My Love' from a "sad little poem" into a gothic dance track they describe as "Nick Cave at the club." https://ab.co/3CPjvmQ

"This Time, This Place...." will feature on Röyskopp's Profound Mysteries project with previous singles "Impossible" featuring Alison Goldfrapp, "The Ladder" and ""(Nothing But) Ashes…", and is teamed with another visualiser directed by Jonathan Zawada. Beki Mari says of the collaboration, "I could only describe working with Röyksopp as an out of body experience. My mind already had the trails of their music burnt-in; little pathways back to very specific memories and so being asked to sing for them filled me with an inimitable feeling. In Norway, in their studio, my voice spanned octaves I didn’t know I had; which was especially interesting as I was still learning how to fly. Working with Svein and Torbjørn was a divine blessing, something I shan’t ever forget." https://bit.ly/3ttFJYR
