Playing in LA since the early 60s, the band – then called Nightshift – was spotted by ex-Animals singer Eric Burdon at the decade’s end and they became his backing band. Named War as a protest against Vietnam, the seven-piece group backed Burdon for two albums and kept a fiercely political agenda. 'Tonight the Night' is Neil Young's sixth studio release. Originally recorded in August and September of 1973, the album's release was delayed until June 1975. The album was an expression of grief as Danny Whitten, guitartist of Crazy Horse and Neil Young's good friend Bruce Berry had both lost their lives to drug overdoses months before the album was written. by Betty Davis

Betty Davis's third studio album and first released on a major label. Unfortunately, due to it's performance, Island Records pushed the release of Davis's follow-up album 'Is It Love or Desire?'. This pressure led Davis to abandon her music career shortly after the release of 'Nasty Gal'. https://bit.ly/3KfhXoV Fortunately for us, Light in the Attic Records reissued the album in 2009. "Fight the Power, Part 1 & 2" was the first single off the album. Happy 1975! Thank you for powering KEXP for 50 years! - https://kexp.org/50
