Orville Peck's second album, "Bronco," will arrive on April 8th, 2022. Bronco will follow Orville Peck's 2019 debut album Pony. "This is my most impassioned and authentic album to date," Peck explains. "I was inspired by country rock, 60s & 70s psychedelic, California and bluegrass with everything being anchored in country. Bronco is all about being unrestrained and the culmination of a year of touring, writing in isolation and going through and ultimately emerging from a challenging personal time.": https://bit.ly/3sz6VU9

Transmission
by Joy Division
(93 plays) | (0 fans)

Transmission was Joy Division’s first great song. The track was released as a single on 7 October 1979 following the release of the band’s legendary debut album "Unknown Pleasures" that summer, but it had been written some time earlier. -- Bassist Peter Hook on playing this song for the first time: "We played the new song, which was ‘Transmission’ – and everyone in the whole place stopped literally what they were doing to listen and to turn round and watch us. It was an absolutely bizarre moment. It really made the hair on your arms stand up and shivers down your spine.” -- Here's the official music video of the band performing "Transmission": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dBt3mJtgJc

The song credits Bettye LaVette as a featured artist due to its prominent sampling of 1965’s “Let Me Down Easy.” -- Odesza said: " It was an absolute honor to be able to work with Bettye’s voice over the course of writing the track. She’s able to convey emotion with her vocal work unlike any other. To date, this has been one of the more fulfilling songs we’ve had the chance to work on as artists. We hope everyone who listens enjoys the track as much as we did making it.” -- Read a biography of the remarkably talented Bettye LaVette: https://www.allmusic.com/artist/bettye-lavette-mn0000049229/biography

Bitter Sweet Symphony
by The Verve

Richard Ashcroft’s song famously sampled the previous song, an orchestral cover of the Rolling Stones’ “The Last Time,” and a lawsuit from former Stones manager Allen Klein shortly after its release forced him to hand over 100 percent of the royalties from “Bitter Sweet Symphony” to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. In 2019, the Stones voluntarily returned the songwriting credits for “Bitter Sweet Symphony” to their rightful owner. The Last Time
by The Andrew Oldham Orchestra
(5 plays) | (0 fans)

The Andrew Oldham Orchestra was a musical side project in the mid-1960s created by Andrew Loog Oldham, the original manager and record producer of The Rolling Stones. There was no actual orchestra per se. The name was applied to recordings made by Oldham using a multitude of session musicians, including members of the Rolling Stones. -- This is, of course, an orchestral version of the Stones' "The Last Time." The Stones sued The Verve over using sampling this song for "Bitter Sweet Symphony." The Stones themselves sampled The Staple Singers' 1961 song, "this May Be the Last Time."

I'm Only Sleeping
by The Beatles
(42 plays) | (0 fans)

One of the defining features of ‘I’m Only Sleeping’ is the backwards guitar. This was, in fact, two parts, conceived and performed by George Harrison during a five hour late-night session on 5 May 1966. Harrison first wrote down the notation for the solos he wanted, reversed them, and recorded them twice – one with fuzz effects, and the other unadorned. The idea for the backwards solos came about after a tape operator accidentally threaded a tape into the machine the wrong way. "It played backwards, and, ‘What the hell is going on?’ Those effects! Nobody knew how those sounded then. We said, ‘My God, that is fantastic! Can we do that for real?’… So that was what we did and that was where we discovered backwards guitar. It was a beautiful solo actually. It sounds like something you couldn’t play." --Paul McCartney
