The Murlocs performed live in the KEXP studio in 2019. Check out the full performance, including this track, here: https://youtu.be/ifvCzU4_7Lc Five skinny kids with roots firmly placed in their own blown-out, distorted brand of soulful RnB. Formed in early 2011 by harp player Ambrose Kenny-Smith. Their up-tempo snare cracks and noisy doom guitar - accompanied by Ambrose's vocal screech - has been described as a mesmerising demented dance party. https://themurlocs.bandcamp.com/album/manic-candid-episode

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets will be at The Crocodile on Friday, May 20. https://bit.ly/3HtAbSF Psychedelic Porn Crumpets - Performance & Interview (Live on KEXP at Home) from April 2021: https://youtu.be/Pui8Yberr_k Psychedelic Porn Crumpets have announced the release of a new album, 'Night Gnomes,' which will be out on April 22 via Marathon Artists. They have also shared two new songs from the album: “Bubblegum Infinity” and “Dread & Butter.” Frontman Jack McEwan states in a press release: “A lot of the album is about trying to work out what the fuck is going on, in general life and obviously the period of time we’ve all found ourselves dormant in for the past two years. I started reading a few quotes from philosophers because, hey! They might know what’s going on, but mostly it was a bunch of cleverly worded gibberish that was drenched in self turmoil that thankfully, serendipitously, unbeknownst to me was the thing I found comfort in. That nobody has a clue what life is and we’re all winging it as we go! Cheers, William of Ockham.” https://bit.ly/3Hx3Ev0 "Bubblegum Infinity" (Official Video): https://youtu.be/nxfXbpXRdCQ https://psychedelicporncrumpets.bandcamp.com/music https://www.psychedelicporncrumpets.com/

Nigerian-born London singer Obongjayar will release his long-awaited debut album 'Some Nights I Dream Of Doors.' Obongjayar co-wrote album opener “Try” with producer Barney Lister. The song has a simple, direct melody and a beautifully bittersweet vocal from Obongjayar. It’s about staring down a hostile, uncertain future and doing your best to thrive anyway. Lister surrounds Obongjayar’s voice with horns and drums, but all of that sometimes drops away to let that voice dominate. Director Spencer Young‘s striking video is full of theatrical lighting and modern-dance poses, and it’s got an adorable little kid playing Obongjayar’s inner child. https://bit.ly/3AX6eb9 https://youtu.be/Rm4tFkMnjyY 'Some Nights I Dream of Doors' is out May 13. http://obongjayar.com/

Stay Soft
by Mitski

Mitski's 'Laurel Hell' is out today!!! The video for "Stay Soft" is directed by Maegan Houang, who previously co-directed the video for “The Only Heartbreaker.” Houang said in a statement: “This video is heavily inspired by Romanticism and paintings and artwork from the Victorian era. Like the lyrics of the song ‘Stay Soft,’ paintings from that era have a gentle quality, but they still evoke a certain feeling of unexplored darkness and danger. I want the audience to feel safe within this fabricated world and then realize that the character Mitski plays is being hunted.” https://bit.ly/3GrFWyW "Stay Soft" (Official Video): https://youtu.be/cNwy1Th4NYo Mitski is playing two nights at The Moore Theatre, with CHAI, on Wednesday & Thursday, March 9-10. https://bit.ly/3K5IuFQ

The Black Keys return to the Pacific Northwest for the Dropout Boogie Tour on Sunday, October 2 at Climate Pledge Arena, with Band of Horses and The Velveteers. https://bit.ly/3ooZGwR This bluesy workout opens Black Keys' eighth album, 'Turn Blue.' The duo recorded 30 songs for the record before narrowing it down to 11. Drummer Patrick Carney revealed that the recording of this song determined the structure of the album. "We didn't have a plan, we just kind of went in and recorded stuff and came up with the record," he explained. "It wasn't until we recorded the song 'Weight of Love' that we figured out how we wanted to start the record. Once we finished that we knew that was the beginning of the record." https://bit.ly/3LdbFHJ http://theblackkeys.com/

“There is a history of black entertainers feeling that after they have achieved a certain level of success that they are above discussions of race but that idea is a delusion,” says Kele. “As a person of colour living in the western world, it does not matter how much wealth one accumulates, race will follow you wherever you go. With JUNGLE BUNNY I wanted explore this idea: In a time of such rampant division and public racism, what is the responsibility of the black entertainer?" https://kele.bandcamp.com/album/2042 "Guava Rubicon" (Official Video): https://youtu.be/BtDnnTRi0P4
