Above all the overriding ethos of Everyone Else is its sense of inclusiveness: all people, every feeling, quiet, loud, any time signature. The midpoint between grunge and art rock is the aesthetic Slothrust elevates: sharp-eyed individualism, serious musicianship, humble intelligence, controlled abandon. https://slothrust.bandcamp.com/album/everyone-else

1993 album! 'Saturation' is notable for the fact that Nash Kato – rather than King Roeser, the band's usual de facto lead vocalist – sings lead on almost the entire album. https://bit.ly/3L831dd https://youtu.be/yzFlPdHt1Gk

by Greentea Peng
(1 play) | (0 fans)

South Londoner Greentea Peng vibrates a little differently from the rest of us. Genuinely – her debut album was purposely recorded at 432Hz (and not the industry standard 440) because of the frequency’s much-discussed soothing properties. Within lies a hazy miasma of jazz, righteous reggae, easy-going hip-hop and vintage neo-soul in which the echo effects of dub and the swirl of psychedelia hand off to skitters of drum’n’bass. “Krishna and Jah” keep watch over the recording studio. Read more of The Guadian's review of 'Man Made' here: https://bit.ly/3upBDBQ Her stage name is taken from her love of green tea, and the London slang word 'peng', which means attractive or tasty. https://bit.ly/34ulsrR https://www.greenteapeng.net/#/

Imarhan, meaning ‘the ones I care about’, started out around 2008, a loose collection of friends who began to play together. Their reflects their cultural and generational background; dry guitar riffs, pop melodies and pan-African rhythms which draw on traditional Tuareg music, African ballads and the modern pop and rock the band heard growing up. https://imarhan.bandcamp.com/album/aboogi Imarhan was a guest DJ for KEXPs Midnight in a Perfect World back in 2018. Reptaliens are playing tonight (Thursday, February 3) with Goth Babe at The Neptune Theatre! https://bit.ly/32UFQSv They are also playing at Substation on Wednesday, February 23 with Spaceface and General Mojos. https://bit.ly/32ULqUY Reptaliens are ready to be direct. After exploring surreal realms of high-concept synth-pop across two acclaimed albums, the Portland, Oregon, duo found newfound clarity in a stark, grounded approach. That may seem unexpected for such a colorful act—known for heady lyrics about conspiracy theories and transhumanism—but Cole and Bambi Browning have streamlined to the lean, propulsive essentials on their self-produced new LP, 'Multiverse.' https://reptaliens.bandcamp.com/album/multiverse

Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever will play Neumos on Thursday, August 18. https://bit.ly/34zvb0c While initial ideas for 'Endless Rooms' were traded online during long spells spent separated by Australia’s strict lockdowns, the album was truly born during small windows of freedom in which the band would decamp to a mud-brick house in the bush around two hours north of Melbourne built by the extended Russo family in the 1970s. https://rollingblackoutscoastalfever.bandcamp.com/album/endless-rooms “It’s about how ending up in your particular situation in life is the result of absolute randomness,” the group said of the track. “If you happen to be born into wealthy Australia or happen to be born into a war zone in Syria. That’s just the way it shatters. So it’s when this good luck is mistaken for a sense of pride in one’s self or their country they become confused and deluded about what’s important. It’s when those on the other side of the luck scale are completely othered and considered not worthy.” https://bit.ly/3rowg3E https://youtu.be/pgQbZF3HMhY 'Endless Rooms' coems out May 6.

The Joy Formidable has performed "The Greatest Light Is the Greatest Shade" a few times live in the KEXP studio. Check them out! https://www.youtube.com/c/kexp/search?query=The%20Joy%20Formidable%20Light In an interview with Rhiannon Bryan, she described this as one of the songs that defines the band. It was a milestone in their songwriting - Bryan writes the lyrics and bass player Rhydian Dafydd composes the tracks. Said Bryan: "I felt that was the point in the band where Dafydd and I were really starting to build this really special chemistry in terms of writing together. Just because, just very concisely, he'd written that - all the music - as a demo in one night, and I came back to find he'd written all of it musically. He left, and when he came back, it was fully constructed, lyrically." https://bit.ly/3rq6X1g https://thejoyformidableofficial.bandcamp.com/album/the-big-roar http://www.thejoyformidable.com/
