You Wanted A Hit
by LCD Soundsystem
(60 plays) | (1 fan)

We are hoping for many hits at the Mariners' games this weekend! BELIEVE!!! LCD Soundsystem Return to the Stage With 20-Night Brooklyn Residency. After three-year hiatus, band plots lengthy Brooklyn Steel stand that begins November 23rd and runs through December 21st. LCD Soundsystem will play their first concerts in over three years — 20 of them, in fact — when the band returns to New York’s Brooklyn Steel this November to kick off a lengthy residency. https://bit.ly/3uyVMTK -- "You Wanted a Hit" is the longest song on 'This Is Happening' at over nine minutes, this is a riposte to anyone expecting LCD leader James Murphy to come up with a radio friendly, three minute pop song. "So you wanted a hit, well maybe we don't do hits," he sings. "I've tried and I've tried. It ends up feeling kind of wrong." This was co-written by Hot Chip and sometimes LCD guitarist, Al Doyle. https://bit.ly/3Fl2S3w LCD Soundsystem performs "You Wanted a Hit" live on Austin City Limits: https://youtu.be/_1c1zhV3vHk

**** BANDCAMP FRIDAY PICK **** Nation Of Language will be LIVE ON KEXP on Thursday, October 14 at 9:30 AM with John Richards. This session is NOT open to the public, so make sure to tune in to hear this session. https://bit.ly/3nVz72Z Nation Of Language will be at The Crocodile on Thursday, October 14th! https://bit.ly/2XzXTe9 Songwriter/vocalist Ian Devaney says about this song: "One ends up spending a lot of time contending with unrealised dreams and feeling jealousy towards those who have moved on. There's an inferiority complex that can set in, which if unchecked, can lead down a pretty bitter and self-destructive road. This is a song for driving down that road, as indecision and longing and regret cycle together into mania, until finally, at the end, quiet acceptance and peace wash over." https://bit.ly/3A1GjwP 'A Way Forward' releases on November 3. https://nationoflanguage.bandcamp.com/album/a-way-forward

Beauty In The World
by Macy Gray
(6 plays) | (0 fans)

"Beauty in the World" was originally a dance track until Gray turned it into more of a rollicking peace and love sing-a-long. "You get bombarded with opinion and expectations and what other people want and you forget what you do well," she said in press materials. "That song is what I do well." This song was inspired by Gray's teenage daughter, who one day Macy overheard laughing hysterically in the next room. "I was having a really bad day and I heard my daughter just cracking up in the next room," she recalled. "She has this really great laugh and I didn't even know what she was laughing at. I thought 'at least she's happy.' And I felt at least I hadn't failed there, because my daughter's happy." https://bit.ly/3B6mZQu https://youtu.be/0qX7ZsxD3Ik

by The Shocking Blue
(1 play) | (0 fans)

The group's guitarist Robbie Van Leeuwen wrote this song. The group is from The Netherlands, which led to an interesting translation problem when Shocking Blue lead singer Mariska Veres sang the English lyrics. Van Leeuwen wrote the first line down incorrectly: what was supposed to be "A goddess on the mountain top" he wrote as "A goddness on the mountain top," and that's exactly how Veres sang it. Most listeners didn't notice, and the many cover versions corrected the error, but the result was a #1 hit with a misspoken first line thanks to a typo. The distinctive guitar riff was taken from The Who's "Pinball Wizard." https://bit.ly/3io3afS https://youtu.be/JFRunzgYij8

"I believe in believe." -- Ted Lasso "The song 'Believe' addresses the subject of letting go of the pain felt from a broken relationship to embrace a new life. Cher recalls how much she tried to patch things up to no avail because her ex-lover was simply not up for it." https://bit.ly/3l07L9O

"Fairy tales do not start, nor do they end in the dark forest. That son of a gun always shows up smack-dab in the middle of a story. But it will all work out. Now, it may not work out how you think it will or how you hope it does, but believe me, it will all work out. Exactly as it’s supposed to. Our job is to have zero expectations and just let go." ~ Ted Lasso https://bit.ly/3F9kGyk

Ted Lasso Theme
by Jeff Tweedy
(2 plays) | (0 fans)

You have to BELIEVE!!! Seattle Mariners now tied for second in AL wild-card race! Let's go Mariners!!!!! https://bit.ly/3B1QoeA Ted Lasso — a warm-hearted sitcom that runs on good vibes rather than good jokes, in which Jason Sudeikis plays a relentlessly positive American football coach hired to coach a British football (soccer) team — is close to wrapping up its second season. Apple Music has released the soundtrack for that season. The album begins with a new version of the same song by Jeff Tweedy. The Wilco frontman has taken a more minimal approach that reminds me of Big Star’s acoustic ballads but mostly just sounds like Jeff Tweedy excelling in the role of Jeff Tweedy. https://bit.ly/3orjZKI
