I Am I Be

Just as Tribe convinced jazz great Ron Carter to lug his bass into the studio for 1991’s The Low End Theory, so De La recruited Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley and Pee Wee Ellis – all from James Brown’s legendary horn section the JBs – to let loose their lips and lungs on Buhloone Mindstate They sampled Lou Rawls' 1970 "You've Made Me So Very Happy" and Jimmy Ponder's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" for this song.: https://bit.ly/3zDaKJj

Brian Jackson was more than the foundation for Gil Scott-Heron at the zenith of Scott-Heron's career. Jackson, with and without the Midnight Band, was there from the beginning on Pieces of a Man, the acclaimed Winter In America, and through the Arista years. Jackson performed with Earth, Wind & Fire and Stevie Wonder in the 1980s and 90s, and recorded sparingly with the likes of Roy Ayers. That's his beautiful alto flute on "Nancy Wilson": https://bit.ly/3lPRxzp

All is Full of Love
by Bjork
(63 plays) | (0 fans)

Bjork released "Homogenic" on this date in 1997. -- In 2000, Bjork explained how she came up with this song: "I guess waking up after having been in Spain for six months in the mountains with few people. It was kind of solitary. And it was April, and I had to walk in the morning, around the mountains. And spring just kicked in. It was definitely nature-inspired. On a more personal level. It's about when you have been too stubborn about giving love to one particular direction... you expect it back, like it's a bank or something. And kind of realizing that it's up to you what you give, but it's not up to you what you are given and where from." -- The video, directed by Chris Cunningham, was nominated for a Grammy and won several awards including Best Breakthrough Video and Special Effects at the 2000 MTV Video Awards.: https://vimeo.com/43444347
