Like a Girl
by Lizzo

Hi, Can you please play Lizzo’s “Like a Girl”… for my daughter’s…Maddie and Mia…they are 16 and 18 and have grown up with their fanatical KEXP mom exposing them to all kinds of glory and guts on this gem of a radio station. It has not always been easy as a single mom, but I have always amplified the station because it inspires me everyday to be a better mom, boss, human. Thank you ALL for keeping us ALIVE! Thanks, Tracy

Fugitive Motel

Happy Monday to you and thank you for the special show today! Please know I've been listening to KEXP since 2003 and I'm quite certain Elbow's Fugitive Motel is one the first songs you turned me onto that cracked open a new musical door for me. I quickly learned those doors would fly open regularly and I'm so grateful to all the humans that make it possible... A huge thanks to YOU for powering ME! Most kind regards, Alan

You Are Not Alone

Hi KEXP team! I first started listening to KEXP in the early 00's. Even though I was a broke-ass grad student at UW, I did my best to give a few dollars here and there because I was discovering so much amazing music thanks to you all. As I've become more financially comfortable in the ensuing years, I've become an Amplifier and have gradually increased my monthly donation. I bumped up my monthly donation again recently, because KEXP has consistently lifted my spirits with music during these times that can sometimes feel very dark and lonely. In particular, I've found Brandon Summers' "You Are Not Alone" to be a beautifully uplifting song, and would like to request that. I look forward to supporting KEXP for many years! Davis

Dear Cheryl and KEXP, It has been my pleasure to donate as an Amplifier 500+ since 1993. I used to donate during pledge drives so I could come to the station and hand pick some CDs with Tom Mara helping suggest! Later, automatic monthly contributions were best and I bump up my monthly amount when I can. What a joy to be part of KEXP and listen and watch all that KEXP provides to us music fans. I keep a spreadsheet of artists and songs I hear on KEXP, so much inspired by my similar taste in music with Cheryl. Lucky me (and us) to have her give so much to all of us with live artist bookings and great music. I am happy to be connected to my community through music and wonderful programming and live events. My life has changed, been held together, and I power KEXP, one of the most important and meaningful contributions I make. With appreciation, "Spreadsheet" John Could you play any KEXP live performance of London Grammar, Haelos, Bully, Austra, Warpaint, just a few of my Cheryl-inspired favs.

I graduated from UW in 2015 and KEXP got me through some rough times. Now I live in Oak Harbor in NW Washington and I listen through your app. It makes me feel like I am still in the city. My two siblings also went to UW and on weekends in Seattle, we would be driving and singing together to this station. Through life, love, and loss the station has been there to anchor us. Making the good times feel even better, the worst times not as bad, and everything other day a great time. Everyone should help this radio station so that we have a amazing community radio like the old days. Could you play Marvin Gaye's Inner City Blues. My siblings and I would sing this together all the time. Thank you. Love you guys. Matthew

How We Operate

Hi Team KEXP, We remain so grateful for your existence, and grateful we have the ability to contribute in a small way to the sustainability of this unparalleled music-driven treasure. You do so much for so many, and the requests today have been magical. It's so cool that so many of our favorite artists have already made it onto the playlist. My husband and I have a deep shared love for "How We Operate" by Gomez (from road trips singing it at the top of our lungs to the breathtaking experience of seeing them live at the Showbox). If you can squeeze it in today, yay! If not, still yay, because...KEXP! Sarah & Chad

Hi Cheryl! My wife Abi and I have been proud amplifiers for a few years now because of the million good things that kexp brings to the world. One of which is the constant music discovery. I'm wondering if you could play this song in the picture I sent because I love it and haven't been able to find it anywhere except for Kexp! Thanks for all the hard work and the love you send through the airwaves. Cheers, Sam from Nevada

Oh my gosh, thanks to the Amplifier who requested your Herb Alpert intro- loved that! Thank you for sharing your ups & downs w/ the community. Think I'm on 10 years of amplifying, I remember wondering Is it crazy to be so in love w/a radio station? Ha! I know you're a Neko Case fan, let's hear Deep Red Bells - even though that has PNW dark roots. Amy in Baltimore

Amplifier request: "Backstairs" from The New Pornos "Brill Bruisers". I've never heard this song on the radio. I have Tix to both December shows where they will be playing their first 2 records (yeah, one of those tours).

Golden
by Diamond-Fist Werny
(1 play) | (1 fan)

Good morning Cheryl, I’m a usually silent listener and long-time fan! The earlier request for Critters Buggin somehow got me thinking about Diamond Fist Werny. I moved to Seattle in 1994 and immediately fell in love with KCMU. I was an intermittent donor for year before becoming an amplifier last decade. SO much amazing music that I would never have heard otherwise. Thank you! I am continually inspired by KEXP’s commitment to building a global music community while being firmly grounded in Seattle culture. Nothing compares to the amazing team of DJ’s and the real-time curation of music that always touches my heart. It makes me sad that such a great artist as Todd Werny seems to have been mostly lost in translation to the new digital music era. I hope it will please you to honor this 90’s Seattle icon by playing “golden” or any other DFW track that moves you. Bryan
