Charles Bradley was an American funk/soul/R&B singer. Born in Gainesville, Florida, and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Bradley spent the better part of his childhood living on the streets. One of the more optimistic moments of his childhood came in 1962, when his sister took him to see James Brown at The Apollo. Brown’s energy formed a lasting impression on Bradley. He went home and immediately began practicing microphone tricks with a broom attached to a string, imitating the Godfather’s every move. With his newfound inspiration came an urgent desire to get off the streets and make something of himself...Charles Bradley died September 23, 2017." https://www.last.fm/music/Charles+Bradley/+wiki Charles Bradley and his Extraordinaires performing "You Put the Flame On It" live on KEXP from the Bumbershoot Music Lounge. FUN FACT: This was originally a commission for a Nestlé advert. Graham G Hastings of Young Fathers explained to NME: "We made them a song which says 'baby' 1000 times. All the lyrics are about 'Feed me, mama' and 'Food for the village.' We sent it to them and they said they'd loved it!" In the end, the commission fell through, but Young Fathers kept the song. - https://bit.ly/2Kc4lBa

The West Yorkshire teen quartet said, “‘Burn the Heather’ is a song deeply rooted in where we come from. The lyrics are our interpretation of some of the darker aspects of where we live, and our personal reaction to them. Musically, ‘Burn the Heather’ is intended to be an adrenaline shot to the brain." - https://bit.ly/2I1vJkq

Watch it here: https://youtu.be/WekaPReaJBU Bridgers said in a statement: "This song is about impostor syndrome. About being in Japan for the first time, somewhere I’ve always wanted to go, and playing my music to people who want to hear it, feeling like I’m living someone else's life. I dissociate when bad things happen to me, but also when good things happen. It can feel like I’m performing what I think I’m supposed to be like."
