A Change Is Gonna Come by Bettye Swann was written by Sam Cooke and was first released by Sam Cooke in 1964. A civil rights anthem and a good reminder among all the chaos. |

The lead track on Mahalia’s 2019 record LOVE AND COMPRIMISE Hide Out was a song swollen with swagger, defiance, and self-determination. You’ll hear some defiant quotes from Eartha Kitt pulled from an amazing and inspiring interview segment of the 1982 documentary “All by Myself: The Eartha Kitt Story” throughout the track. https://in-my-ear.blog/2019/10/18/mahalia-hide-out/ |

On their debut album, the UK duo nudges classic British bedroom indie toward a fuller, richer sound, while singer Nancy Andersen discovers the potential of her understated voice.Singer Nancy Andersen's dad makes music for adverts, while producer Jamie Travis's dad built the Rough Trade empire and his brother once threw up on Morrissey, something we've all probably felt like doing at some time or other. |

In the late ’70s, three do-right women from Cleveland forged a brief partnership with Ohio’s everything man, Lou Ragland. Unlike the prefabricated singing combos of the day, Lily Pearson, Annette Warren, and Avetta Henry swapped lead duties as situation demanded. When a Ragland-centric publicity stunt preempted a concert appearance, Love Apple disintegrated, abandoning this rehearsal tape within the lo-fi confines of Thomas Boddie’s cherished Eastside studio. The tapes were uncovered and released finally in 2012 on Numero Group Records. |

Hello friends, welcome! It’s been a WEEK. A friendly reminder that the revolution will not be televised. The song's title was originally a popular slogan among the 1960s Black Power movements in the United States. Its lyrics either mention or allude to several television series, advertising slogans, and icons of entertainment and news coverage that serve as examples of what "the revolution will not" be or do. The song is a response to the spoken-word piece "When the Revolution Comes" by The Last Poets, from their eponymous debut, which opens with the line "When the revolution comes some of us will probably catch it on TV". |
