A brand new song from the Seattle eight piece! In regards to this track, their guitarist Jimmy James recently told American Songwriter about the process, “the band was able to write and record their latest LP prior to the 2020 COVID-19 shutdowns. To create the 10-track record, the band went on a retreat to a remote location and hunkered down. The True Loves later honed the ideas borne from that creative excursion in an Emerald City studio. The members didn’t know it at the time, but recording the new record was one of the last opportunities for some time they’d have to be in a room to work out the parts.” Check out the full American Songwriter interview with Jimmy James here: https://americansongwriter.com/sunday-afternoon-the-true-loves-album-interview/ |

The futuristic sounds of Kelela’s debut studio album on Warp Records combine electronic and R&B. Altadena is the closing track of this 2017 release. Pop Matters says in their review, “With Take Me Apart, she now pole-vaults herself into the center of the conversation, producing an ambitious and lovingly cultivated debut LP as opulent as it is inventive. The album's sound mainly picks up where the Hallucinogen highlight "Rewind" left off, veering slightly away from her more experimental and glitchy side in favor of sleek, emotive, subtly retro pop songs.” Read more details in the full Pop Matters review here: https://www.popmatters.com/kelela-take-me-apart-2497173283.html |
