It All Feels Right
by Washed out
(142 plays) | (0 fans)

"Washed Out is Ernest Greene, a young guy from Perry, GEORGIA, who makes bedroom synthpop that sounds blurred and woozily evocative. There’s a sense of longing and distance in Greene’s somber, filtered vocals, but it’s what he does compositionally that makes Washed Out stand out. Backed by gently pulsing, Balearic-tinged disco, Greene’s voice takes on a new dimension. Reminiscent of groups like The Glass and Chromatics, Washed Out is the music to end your night with, when the city is quiet and you've got a long walk home ahead of you." https://www.last.fm/music/Washed+Out/+wiki

Pointer Finger
by Hypoluxo
(1 play) | (0 fans)

Brooklyn post-punk ensemble quartet Hypoluxo released this self-titled album in November 2020. Samuel Cogen of the band says of the song Pointer Finger, "We got our first “record deal” when I was still just a kid. It’s easy to think at that age, being naive and incredibly excited, that once you sign that contract you’ll find some success. Becoming discouraged is not something any artist wants to let in, but when you’re being screwed over and over, and there’s only seemingly low points in the present and in the future, you hit a wall. I was in the midst of a really bad place personally when writing this song, and it comes through. I’m just glad we were able to push our way through and in the end find some meaning and move in the right direction." https://floodmagazine.com/82899/hypoluxo-self-titled-track-by-track/

Tariq Trotter, better known as Black Thought, is an American rapper and the lead MC of the Philadelphia-based hip hop group The Roots, which he co-founded with drummer Questlove. On the third volume in his solo series, Black Thought once again demonstrates the power of his dense, winding freestyles and stretches into new, more vulnerable territory. https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/black-thought-streams-of-thought-vol-3-cane-and-abel-ep/

You can find this track from The Ify Jerry Krusade on the compilation record 'The World Ends: Afro Rock & Psychedelia in 1970s Nigeria', issued by Soundaway Records: http://www.soundwayrecords.com/catalogue/the-world-ends.html AllMusic says about the compilation: "This double disc is jammed with unstoppable, irresistible grooves overlaid with teeth-rattling, mind-zapping guitar solos and nearly unhinged call-and-response vocals. Not every track is pure aggression, of course; some are more relaxed, providing a breather between eruptions. Taken as a whole, this is one of the most exhilarating and thrilling compilations around, recommended not only to scholars of African music but anyone who remembers when rock bands wanted people to dance." https://bit.ly/31yhaM1
