"It just felt good to write something beautiful with no other purpose than to let this feeling out. We were in there so deeply and we felt almost like we were drowned by it. We made use of this situation. A bottle of warm wine from last night was our companion and the lyrics were floating from there on. At one point I had to wear sunglasses because I felt that tears were running down my cheek." - https://www.kexp.org/read/2019/4/5/lea-porcelain-reassure-us-new-single-i-am-ok-kexp-premiere/

"Today I hit my emotional break point. I started crying and shaking and just am not sure how much worse things can get for my family right now. I need some mercy, from something somewhere. Your daily show means so much to me. Some days it helps me just put one foot in front of the other. Today I am hanging on to it for dear life. If you could fit in Pearl Jam River Cross it would really help me today." - John from Philly.

"Good morning and happy Friday to you and all of KEXP. Tomorrow makes the 9th anniversary since my father passed away. My family has always gathered on that day to celebrate him. That is suspended for now while we all try to remain safe. He’s buried at sea. And when we rode the boat out to his final resting place we played God Moving Over the Face of the Waters. I still see those roses floating out away from us. If you’re able to play this today I’d be so grateful. All the best to you! Thank you for being there each morning and reminding us that we are not alone." - Janine

Life On Mars?

"My wife Amie and I are big David Bowie fans and last night we watched “David Bowie – The Final Five Years”. We recommend this film for any Bowie fan or not. This powerful film put into perspective the creative force of a man who was literally dying while working on his play Lazarus and final two albums. There was no one like him before nor will there be anyone else who can be compared to this musical legend. He truly was a gift to us on Earth. Could you please play Amie’s favorite song ”Life On Mars” ?" - Anthony

"I’ve been a listener since the mid-2000s and I want to thank you for providing the soundtrack to my workweek all this time. Whenever I’m going through a rough patch there’s nothing better than the sound of a familiar voice and good music to help get me through. This has been especially true now with our lives and daily routines upended. I’ve never been more grateful that The Morning Show is here to bring some normalcy. I unfortunately lost my mom two weeks ago today to COVID-19. I hadn’t seen her in months due to her nursing home being locked down but was fortunate to have a few FaceTime calls with her shortly before she died. I couldn’t be there for her. We can’t have a funeral. I can’t even console my dad with a hug. It’s cruel. So many people are suffering in so many ways now, it’s hard to find the light. But for a few hours every day I know there’s music to lift me up and a reminder that even in the darkest moments I am not alone. What you’re doing now is so much more than just playing music - you, the entire KEXP staff and worldwide community of listeners are getting us through this unbelievable crisis. One song I keep going back to during this time is ‘Cattails’ by Big Thief. It’s reassuring and beautiful. If you could please play it for my mom, I’d greatly appreciate it. Stay strong and healthy." - Sean in Massachusetts
