Kyp Malone said that the title came from "a note that Dave [Sitek] wrote in the studio that said, "Dear Science, please start solving problems and curing diseases or shut the fuck up."

Rock Dreams
by The Lemon Twigs
(2 plays) | (0 fans)

Lemon Twigs will be at The Neptune Theatre on Tuesday, January 29th, 2019. "Go To School" is a fantasy musical about a monkey called Shane who is raised by a pair of aspiring musicians as a human boy. Shane's parents are played by the D'Addario brothers' real-life mother Susan Hall and (the) Todd Rundgren. This song is sung by Susan Hall from the perspective of Carol (the Mom) in the story. She is bitter about her unsuccessful crack at being a rock artist and blames adopting Shane for her music career stalling.

Strawberry Fields Forever
by The Beatles
(37 plays) | (0 fans)

Strawberry Field was a Salvation Army home in Liverpool where John Lennon used to go. He had fond memories of the place that inspired this. John's aunt Mimi did not like John going to Strawberry Fields, as it was basically an orphanage and she thought they would lead John astray. John liked going there because having lost his father and later his mother he felt a kinship to the lads. When John and his aunt would argue about his going he would often reply, "What are they going to do, hang me?" Thus the line "Nothing to get hung about."

The music for this song was written by guitarist Stone Gossard before the band had a lead singer. It was part of a three-song instrumental demo they made at London Bridge Studio in Seattle while looking for a vocalist and drummer. Jack Irons, a friend of Gossard's who played drums in The Red Hot Chili Peppers, was approached about joining the band, but he had another commitment. He thought Eddie Vedder might be a good fit as the singer, so he gave Eddie the demo tape. At home in San Diego, Vedder wrote lyrics and added his vocals to the song using his four-track recorder. The band liked what they heard and made him lead singer.
