On his solo acoustic tour, Chris Cornell has been performing stripped-back versions of songs from Soundgarden’s 25-year catalog. But at a gig in Edmonton, Canada, on April 26, Cornell surprised the crowd with a cover of Pearl Jam’s classic 1994 track “Better Man.” Watch fan-shot video of the performance here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNWjjQ-Jqwo

Seattle’s Thunderpussy have won a lot of local fans since they formed in 2013, and one of those is Mike McCready. The Pearl Jam guitarist is so taken with their sound, which blends classic-rock muscle with soulful vocals and punk energy, that he agreed to produce their debut seven-inch – and even make a cameo appearance on the track “Velvet Noose".

In a move to beat bootleggers to the punch, Pearl Jam decided to release each of their 2000 American concert performances in a series of inexpensive double-CD sets. The August 25th concert recorded in Jones Beach, NY, was the last of a three-night stay at that venue and it certainly seems as though they got into the correct groove. The slower songs seem heartfelt, and the high-energy songs crackle with raw power.
